April 28, 2024 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

By Abby Cheng

When I tell some people that I work in a hospice, they get a bit creeped out and say “I would never want to be around death all the time.” It may just be because I'm used to it now, but death itself doesn't bother me. Praise be to God, I'm confident and secure in His promise that He has saved me from an eternity of separation from him after I die; in fact I'm quite excited to be with Him forever once He calls me home. I've also been blessed with a family who is saved by Jesus as well. At my work, I'm more so affected by the family members who are devastated by the loss of their loved one. It's difficult to find the words to comfort someone when they don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior; for them, death really is the end of it all.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV) says, “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” As we conclude our series on the Spirit-Filled Life this Sunday, let's remember what the Holy Spirit gives us power to do and live lives bearing the fruit of the Spirit. Because of Jesus’ love and sacrifice for believers, we have nothing to fear from death or people or the enemy and we are free to demonstrate love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control to all those around us. Let's live lives bringing all glory to God in the highest!
