August 30, 2026 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

We had a youth leader back in the day and she was different. She was a young person who sang worship songs out loud (I can verify this because I got in trouble for staring too long in disbelief), she read the Bible like she enjoyed it, nice and slowly emphasizing each word, and despite our group being a mismatched group of young hooligans, she was an ate (big-sister) to us. 

Our sermon series, Well-Being of the Soul is ending this Sunday and as Ptr. Tim Cook’s chosen verse is of Elijah's encounter with God in the cave -- I’m reminded of my old youth leader’s life verse: Psalm 46:10, “be still, and know I am God”. It makes sense this was her life verse, because she had to follow her dad across the province to settle in Edmonton, start afresh with a new school, church, and find new friends. To top it all off she found herself in charge of the church’s youth group. 

In a world that constantly moves and continuously bombards us with noise, distractions, and demands, our souls can easily be tired out. I’m hoping and praying that throughout the weeks of this month, we’ve heard the call of God to follow Him in the places where His will calls us, but also the quiet places where He gives us rest, where our souls can prosper, being mindful of our inputs, being guided by the Holy Spirit.

CEAC, be still and know He is God. Find rest in Him today.
