September 20, 2026 IFH -- When God Seems Silent
Being in the dark can be scary, not just for kids, but even adults are wary of the dark. Sometimes, in our inner life, we can feel as if we’re in the dark. It can seem like our prayers are not being heard, or there may be quiet and lonely times where we feel alone and it’s easy to ask the question, “God are you there?”
The Bible reminds us that when God seems to be silent, He’s not absent. The Psalmist in Psalm 139:11-12 says, “even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.”
When we cannot “feel” God’s presence, it’s easy for us to worry or panic, but in this we have faith, just because God is hidden doesn’t mean He has abandoned us. As a master craftsman keeps a close eye on the precious metals he is refining, so does God keep us in mind even when we feel like we’re in the dark.
Church, whatever season you’re in, whatever hardships you may be facing, be encouraged because, what is man that God should be mindful of us and care for us? (Psalm 8:4) The times of hardships are where God is building us up into the likeness of His Son. If you feel like you’re in the dark, draw close to Him for He sees us.
To God be the glory!
