November 1, 2026 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

Cheryl Zamora

There are times when life does not seem fair. We see others prosper while we struggle. We pray, serve, and seek to follow God, yet difficulties still come. This was exactly what Asaph experienced in Psalm 73 – our sermon text this Sunday. He looked at the prosperity of the wicked and almost lost his footing in faith.

But everything changed when he entered God's presence. Instead of focusing on what others had, he began to see who God is. He realized that earthly success is temporary, but a relationship with God is eternal. What appeared to be gain was actually fleeting, while God's presence was the greatest treasure anyone could possess.

How often do I become discouraged by comparing our lives with others? God gently reminds me that my security is not found in circumstances, recognition, or material blessings. Our true strength is found in Him. When our bodies grow tired, our plans fail, or our hearts become weary, God remains faithful.

Asaph concludes with a beautiful declaration: "But as for me, it is good to be near God" (v. 28). I believe this is the secret of a steadfast life—not having all the answers, but staying near to the One who does.
