October 26, 2025 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

Abby Zamora-Cheng

If you have been listening to Shine FM for the past few years, you are guaranteed to have heard one of Forrest Frank’s songs (his top two tracks on YouTube Music are “Your Way’s Better” and “Good Day”). Forrest is a 30 year old Christian pop singer from Texas who has had a very successful music career by the world's standards. His songs and albums have topped Billboard’s Christian charts multiple times and he even has a viral Tiktok dance that has been covered by people all over the world.

On October 6, Forrest posted a video of himself speaking about how he is being convicted to not attend any music award shows, despite his work being nominated for Dove and even Grammy awards. In the video he says, “I will not receive a trophy for something that is from Jesus and for Jesus.” He had been wrestling with it since the year before, after having attended the Dove awards and receiving Artist of the Year and Pop Song of the Year, but this year decided that he would not attend the ceremonies at all. He states, “I hope to be an example to the youth that the trophy is our salvation! The trophy is that my name is listed in the book of life and I get to have eternal life! What good is a piece of metal going to do compared to that?”

I was so blessed by his testimony and thought it very fitting for this week's Serving Challenge focus: Ambition. Zach Zehnder writes that our ambition or strong desire should be that Jesus is exalted in and through our actions, not us. Forrest Frank said in his Dove awards acceptance speech last year: “Every name will fade away, including mine, except for one Name.” Let's remember that and meditate on the last part of the Christ Hymn this week as we finish off the Serving Challenge and walk in the way of godly ambition.
