April 12, 2026 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART
Cheryl Zamora
David wasn’t called a man after God’s heart because he was flawless. He was called that because he kept returning to God—honestly, humbly, wholeheartedly.
David’s life was marked by a deep desire to know God. Whether he was tending sheep, facing giants, ruling a nation, or wrestling with his own failures, his instinct was to turn toward God rather than away. When he was afraid, he worshiped. When he was victorious, he worshiped. When he sinned, he confessed. When he was broken, he cried out for mercy. David’s heart posture mattered more than his perfection.
David was a man who didn’t hide his emotions from God. He brought his joy, anger, confusion, guilt, and hope into God’s presence. This honesty is part of what made his relationship with God so intimate. His failures were significant—moral, relational, and spiritual. Yet his response to conviction was immediate and sincere. Repentance didn’t disqualify him; it realigned him.
Let us pray to the Lord to give us a heart like David’s—honest, humble, repentant, and fully turned toward God.
