A Father Who Never Leaves -- Father’s Day IFH
Father's Day often brings a mix of emotions. For many, it's a joyful celebration of dads and father figures who have poured into their lives. For others, it can be a quiet day of reflection, perhaps a reminder of absence or unresolved pain. Personally, if you didn’t know, my parents separated when I was entering post-secondary, eventually leading to their divorce. An earthly father's presence profoundly shapes life, his physical absence on the other hand can create a deep longing.
It's in these moments that the words of Psalm 27:10 become real: "For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the LORD will take me in." This verse speaks ultimately to the comfort and security we find in our Heavenly Father. Unlike any earthly parent, He is never absent, never too busy, and never leaves. He is perfectly present, unconditionally loving, endlessly patient, and faithful.
No matter our earthly father's story -- whether he was present or absent, almost perfect or a little too flawed -- we have a Father in heaven who "takes us in." He doesn't just fill a void; He adopts us, grants us an identity, and lavishes us with love. He is our Provider, Protector, and Guide when our earthly parents fall short.
This Father's Day, let's celebrate God's perfect fatherhood over us. For those navigating wounds left by their earthly fathers, lean into God’s embrace. For those blessed with wonderful dads, let their love point you to the boundless, unfailing love of our Heavenly Father, who always, always, always takes us in.
To our Heavenly Father be the glory!
