The Cure for Troubled Hearts

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” — John 14:1–3 (ESV)

Jesus knew the disciples were afraid—of death, of abandonment, of the unknown. And He knows when our hearts are troubled too. His words are not just soothing; they’re empowering. “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” That means we have a choice. We can either let fear rule us, or we can trust.

Jesus doesn’t promise a life without pain, but He does promise His presence, His preparation, and His return. He’s not just leaving—He’s going ahead to make a place for us. And He’s coming back to bring us home.

What is troubling your heart today? How does Jesus’ promise of a prepared place and His return speak to your current situation? What does it mean to “trust in God and also in Jesus” in your daily life?
