July 19, 2026 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

Cheryl Zamora

There are days when life feels like a spiritual storm — subtle temptations, discouragement that creeps in quietly, conflict that drains, or anxiety that whispers lies. Paul doesn’t pretend these pressures aren’t real. Instead, he says: “Take up the whole armor of God… and stand.” Not fight harder. Not be stronger. Not fix everything. Stand.

Paul uses an imagery — the armor of God because the Christian life is a battle. Each piece of armor is symbolical and practical:

  • Belt of Truth — represents honesty and integrity.

  • Breastplate of Righteousness — symbolizes moral integrity and protection against sin.

  • Gospel of Peace — refers to the readiness to spread the message of peace.

  • Shield of Faith — protects against doubt and spiritual attacks.

  • Helmet of Salvation — represents the assurance of salvation and protection of the mind.

  • Sword of the Spirit — the Word of God, used for offense against spiritual challenges.

We don’t win spiritual battles by being strong — we win by being equipped. God’s armor is a daily posture. When we feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or spiritually tired, remember: we are not unprotected. We are fully armed by God Himself. And pray – prayer keeps the armor empowered. It’s the breath of the battle, the way you stay aligned with God’s strength.
