July 12, 2026 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

Godliness requires training, and that training is worth everything because our hope is in the living God.

Paul tells Timothy to “train yourself for godliness” — a reminder that spiritual growth is not accidental. Just like physical exercise strengthens the body, consistent spiritual discipline strengthens the soul. Praying, reading and meditating on God’s Word, worship, and obedience shape us over time into people who reflect Christ.

But Paul doesn’t stop there. He adds that godliness holds value “for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” In other words, the effort we invest in our walk with God pays off now — in peace, clarity, strength, and purpose — and it pays off eternally.

And this is our powerful anchor: our hope is in the living God. Not a distant idea, not a fading promise, but a present, active, faithful God who saves, sustains, and strengthens His people.

So today, we can choose one small act of spiritual training — praying, a moment of Scripture meditation, an intentional act of kindness — and offer it to God as part of our lifelong pursuit of Him.
