October 4, 2026 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART
Abby Zamora-Cheng
I have been attending Central Edmonton Alliance Church since I was 8 years old and became more involved in it starting in my preteen years. I have spent a lot of my time in this church building, first for Sunday services, then progressing to CHILLyouth gatherings, worship practices, young adults fellowship, and leaders meetings. Because my mom works in the church, now I will come on random weekdays with my daughters so that they can spend time with their grandparents and have a big open space to run around and play. The church is one of my favorite places in the world to be, and that feeling stems from the desire to sing God's praises and be in His house! It's also because most of my closest family and friends are part of the church and they're often here too.
My conviction now is remembering that the physical building of CEAC is not the only place where God dwells. He is not confined to the walls of our church but is out in the world, working to bring His kingdom to earth through those who believe in Him and are committed to obey Him. I've been so comfortable in our church and serving fellow believers whom I am familiar with that I've neglected the million others just outside our doors who don't yet know Jesus as Lord and Saviour. God has been putting a “holy discontent” in my heart lately for the lost (thank you Pastor Bong for the term) and what my role can be in spreading and sharing the gospel to them as we have been commanded to do. My prayer is that all the time I have spent inside the church learning about God and getting to know Him more translates into action and obedience to the great commission. Church, let's continue to live for Christ and impact lives not just in our building but throughout Edmonton and the world!
