Gratitude in Every Season
"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever." — 1 Chronicles 16:34
Canadian Thanksgiving, celebrated on the second Monday of October, is a time to reflect on the harvest, the changing seasons, and the blessings of the past year. But gratitude isn’t just seasonal—it’s a spiritual posture. Whether we’re in seasons of abundance, trial, challenge, God’s goodness remains constant.
In our own lives, we often experience answered prayers, unexpected kindness, or quiet mercies. But do we return to say thank you? Thanksgiving is more than a holiday—it’s a spiritual discipline. Let us thank God for the blessings we often overlook – the beauty of autumn/fall, the warmth of family, and the gift of community. Let us recognize God’s hand in our lives and respond with heartfelt gratitude. May our thanksgiving be more than words; may it be a way of life. Let’s not just enjoy the feast—let’s remember the Giver.
This Thanksgiving, take a moment to pause and count your blessings. Think of the people who’ve supported you, the moments of joy, the lessons learned, and the quiet ways God has shown up. Gratitude shifts our focus from what’s missing to what’s present. It reminds us that even in uncertainty, we are held by a faithful God.
