February 8, 2026 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

Cheryl Zamora

Enoch and Noah appear early in Scripture, tucked into genealogies where most names pass by quietly. Yet these two stand out with a rare and powerful description: “Enoch walked with God.” “Noah walked with God.”

In a world unraveling morally and spiritually, these men lived in step with the heart of God. Their stories remind us that walking with God is not about perfection—it’s about direction, devotion, and daily companionship.

Enoch — Walking in Intimacy

What marked Enoch’s walk?

 Consistency — He walked with God for 300 years. Not a sprint, but a steady, lifelong journey.

 Closeness — His walk was so intimate that Scripture says God “took him,” a way of saying the boundary between earth and heaven simply dissolved.

 Witness — Jude describes Enoch as a prophetic voice in a corrupt generation.

Enoch shows us that walking with God is less about doing and more about being. It’s the quiet, daily yes – the steady turning of our heart toward God; the kind of relationship where God’s presence becomes the atmosphere of our life. Where can we slow down enough to notice God walking with us today?

Noah — Walking in Obedience

Noah lived in a time when “every inclination of the human heart was only evil continually.” Yet Noah found favor with God.

What marked Noah’s walk?

 Obedience — He built an ark before rain had ever fallen. Radical trust.

 Integrity — He was “blameless in his generation,” not perfect, but aligned with God’s ways.

 Courage — He followed God even when it made no sense to anyone else.

Noah shows us that walking with God sometimes means standing alone. It means obeying when the path is costly, confusing, or countercultural. His life reminds us that obedience is an act of worship. Where is God inviting us to trust Him even when we don’t fully understand?

Let us pray to the Lord to teach us to walk with him like Enoch—with intimacy, consistency, and joy; pray to the Lord to teach us to walk with him like Noah—with courage, obedience, and trust. May our steps align with God. May our life be a quiet testimony that we have walked with God.
